No Pain, no…
Pain! I know, that’s
not the way you heard it. Well I’m here to
tell you that pain is nature’s way of
telling you that something is wrong. You
may be able to gain by your pain, but you
sure as hell won’t enjoy it.

The way back to Eden is
by remembering “No Pain, no pain.” I lift
weights, the ultimate in that other way of
thinking. I get tremendous gains and all
without pain. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m
not saying without effort. I put in a lot
of energy and effort; I just don’t believe
it has to hurt. For that matter I don’t
even hurt the day after. What, how is that
possible!? One of the things we know about
physiology is that muscle soreness after a
workout is caused by the body’s inability to
efficiently flush away the by products of a
heavy work. So, I drink huge amounts of
water during and after my weight lifting and
I also do gentle (and sometimes not so
gentle) aerobic type activities. This helps
my body flush out all of the waste products
and Voila! No pain, no pain. Because I
have no pain it is easier to go back out the
next time and work with energy.

What is true for weight
lifting is true for all of the other areas
of your life as well. When you struggle,
suffer and have pain in any area you are
more likely to avoid that part of your life.
Instead, try flushing your system and
increasing circulation. Pain is a symptom
of stagnation and resistance. So relax and
flow, move and groove, get your energy
flowing and enjoy the effort. Movin’ and
groovin’ at the gym sounds a whole lot more
fun then going for the burn and that’s true
for your relationships and finances as
well. Have you been doing the same old
things with the same old people for way too
long? Flush the system and try something
new, go to a different restaurant, or try
miniature golf, what about kayaking? Ask
the check out clerk to meet you at the
movies. Who knows, you might find you have
a lot more in common than just going to the
same store.

If it hurts, you’re
doing it wrong! Relax, breathe deep and try
something different.
